League Age Determinations: - For baseball: league age is determined by how old the player will be on August 31st of the current year. For softball: league age is determined by how old the player was on December 31st of the previous year.

Registration is based on age.  All Baseball and Softball Minors and Majors players (with the exception of 11 and 12 year olds who played Majors last season) will be required to attend a skills evaluation to determine appropriate level of play and build teams with balanced skill levels and safety in mind.  Players will be considered to move to an upper or lower division after evaluations.

Tee Ball - Baseball

Tee Ball is a developmental program that gives boys and girls the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of baseball.  Players will work on batting, throwing, catching and base running weekly.  All batting is done with a stationary ball placed on a tee with every player having a turn to bat every inning.  Batters try to get on base and advance to home; fielders try to prevent that from happening.  They will have opportunities to put these skills to use in scrimmage experiences.

The season runs from early June to the second week in July. All practices take place at Burton School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  This is for players age 5 and 6.

Minors Baseball

Minors Baseball allows children to continue to build on the fundamentals of baseball and participate in games.  No prior baseball experience is necessary.

Minors play with coach pitch or pitching machine, progressing to some player pitch toward the end of the season.  This level of play builds on what kids learned in tee ball.  Players will learn the rules of baseball, fielding situations and improve batting skills.  The season begins in April and runs until mid-late June.  Practices and games take place at Burton Street Fields.  This is for players league age 7 and 8.

Minors/AAA Baseball

Minors/AAA baseball play 6 innings of player pitch.  This provides an intermediate level of play between minors and majors.  Players will have opportunities to learn and build upon situational baseball, improve pitching technique and advance batting and base running skills.  The season begins in April and runs until mid-late June.  Practices and games take place at Burton Street Fields. Games will be played in Cazenovia and against other leagues.  This is for players league age 9 and 10.

Majors Baseball

Majors play at a higher level in preparation for play at the modified level.  The emphasis is on playing the right way:  teaching good sportsmanship, consistency, hustle, and being a great teammate. Winning is a by-product of those teachings.  Scores and standings will be kept for each team.  There will be a playoff tournament at the end of the season.  The season begins in April and runs until mid-late June.  Practices and games take place at Burton Street Fields. Games will be played in Cazenovia and against other leagues.  This is for players league age 11 and 12.
